Come Again?

Why don't we like people. I mean, there's the most basic of all dislike, and that's prejudice and racism, where people just don't like other people "because." but even that has to start from somewhere. I think childhood is to blame for early prejudices like that, but other than that, I wonder why we don't like people.
A lady told me that the reason you hate someone is because you see in them qualities that you don't like in yourself. Google says it's to make you feel better or more confident about yourself...but I've heard the second one way too much, so let's talk about the first one shall we?
I guess you really have to think hard about it, because when I first thought about the people that really piss me off, I couldn't find it...but if you're brutally honest enough with yourself, you might find something. I think I might have explained one of them....but the rest I'm still kinda stuck.
Personally, I think you don't like people out of fear of what they could do to you, whether it's your reputation, your grade, your chances in college, your friends, your secrets. Some part of them makes you worry for yourself. I know this is freaking broad and probably not insightful in the least, but in case you didn't know, I find it kinda interesting to explore human psychology without just picking up a book on Psyc 101.
In case you're wondering, yes I don't like people (: which is why I was thinking about this, and kinda wanted to write out what I'm thinking, because recently my thoughts have been quite jumbled. Good job blog. do your job.
